These terms cover this website, the contest run on it, and the Reddit app described in section 7. Using any of them means you accept them.

Free to play. No purchase is necessary and none ever will be. Eligibility, how picks work, how points are awarded and how prizes are given out are set out in the Rules, which form part of these terms. Where the two ever disagree, the Rules win.

There is no wagering here and there never will be. We take no bets, hold no stakes and have no sportsbook partners.

One account per person. Keep your email address current, because it is how you sign in and how we would reach you about a prize.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it.

Your display name is public on the leaderboards. Your email address is never shown to other players.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing us from the address on it. What that removes is set out in the Privacy policy.

Multiple accounts, automated picks, or any attempt to place or change a pick after puck drop will cost you the account and anything it has won.

Do not attack, overload or probe the site, and do not scrape it. The public games feed at /api/public/games is open to anyone, and that is the one endpoint meant to be read by other software.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we can correct a leaderboard that is wrong.

We run this carefully and we grade from the official NHL play by play, but we do not promise the site is always available or always right. Games get postponed, feeds go down and scoring gets corrected after the fact.

Where a result is corrected, we correct the points that followed from it. A pick that was locked at puck drop stays locked.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using the site. Nothing here limits anything that cannot be limited by law.

First Goal Contest is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the National Hockey League, the NHLPA, or any club. Team names and city names are used to say which game is which. No league or club marks, logos or crests appear anywhere on this site.

We publish a Reddit app called fgc-games, which runs on r/firstgoalcontest. It keeps one pinned post and one sidebar widget showing the next Canadian NHL games and the last few first goals.

It makes one outbound request, a public unauthenticated GET to firstgoalcontest.ca/api/public/games, at most twice an hour. That request carries nothing about any Reddit user, because the app does not know who is reading the post.

The app collects no personal information. It does not read Reddit users, posts, comments or moderation queues, does not comment, message or vote, and stores nothing about anyone who sees what it writes.

Using the subreddit means following Reddit's own terms and that subreddit's rules, neither of which we set. Links in the post lead back to this site, where these terms apply.

We can change these terms. The date below says when they last changed, and material changes to the contest itself are announced before a cup opens rather than during one.

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply there.
